David Longshaw

TODAY I attended 'Finishing School' as part of the Liverpool Design Festival. Finishing School aims were to offer fashion designers a comprehensive and expert range of continuing professional development workshops. It was for all fashion designers and those working in related industries, whether they had established business', just starting off, or still studying. I had the privilege of having a one-to-one session with Central Saint Martin and RCA graduate David Longshaw, which I found extremely helpful in my quest to break into the fashion industry. These images are my favourite pieces from his RCA (MA) Collection. I love his use of softened pastel colours and his feminine twists on unusual fabric manipulations. I will be looking forward to seeing more of David’s work.

Student Protest, Liverpool

'EXTREMELY Satisfying' would best describe my feelings about attending this protest today. Being applauded as we walked and chanted through the city, gave me a great sense of pride about being a part of this march. Although personally, I still think the media are only showing the negative side of the protesting, as the protest today was completely peaceful and only managed to make regional news, not national. I must also point out that as a city, we have the greatest sense of humour... Some of the signs made were genius!

camden 2

TODAY I visited Liverpool Heritage Market, a very UN-successful trip to say the least! Not a complete waste of time as the Dock Road is a great place to do a spot of photography, these are some of the images I took today.

Skegness

DISPOSABLE cameras are my new best friend! All of these images were taken on Skegness beach and pier, hence the name of this post. The first 5 images were taken with a disposable, the last 2 with my digital camera. I absolutely love the effect you get from using disposables, reminiscent of the great David Bailey's photography during the 1960's period (were his work was at its best).

"you've never had it so good"

DAVID Cameron's enterprise adviser Lord Young has quit after claiming most Britons "had never had it so good" during our time in the current recession. After watching this on the news this morning, I felt completely outraged! Here’s me, a future university student, struggling to find a job and receiving no EMA and he thinks we've never had it so good, I find it completely disgusting. I’m actually glad he's resigned... GOOD RIDDANCE!
